On22 August, Dalian Changxing Island Port Industrial District and China Medical University Affiliated Hospital held the grand contract signing and foundation stone laying ceremony for the cooperative construction and operation of the Changxing Island Hospital. Vice Governor Teng Weiping, Vice Mayor Zhu Chengqing and Changxing Island Port Industrial District Management Committee Director Xu Changyuan attended the ceremony.

In the 5 years of Changxing Island construction and development, its infrastructure is becoming more and more complete, numerous enterprises have taken residence, urban development is taking shape and the entire district is undergoing great historic changes. In order to suit the needs of the development and construction, the Changxing Island Port Industrial District Management Committee decided to build an upper class hospital. According to the master plan, there will be two construction phases for Changxing Island Hospital: The total investment for the first phase is approximately 800 million Yuan Renminbi, with a total land area of 80 acres, a built up floor area of 100 thousand square meters, 730 planned beds, with an outpatient clinic, ward building, medical administrative office building, 120 command centers and logistics and security building etc., with an estimated construction period of 2 years; the second phase of construction is for a land area of 100 acres, where the number of beds will reach 1200.

Teng Weiping said that the cooperative construction and operation of the hospital between Changxing Island Port Industrial District and China Medical University Affiliated Hospital is an important facility is the realization of a development goal in the sound and rapid development of Changxing Island, and is a positive and beneficial venture in the reformation of the medical and health system of the entire province. It is hoped that it would be constructed to become a strong, unique, technically precise, high leveled, patient satisfying comprehensive upper class hospital in Southern Liaoning.

The construction of Changxing Island Hospital is a big step for the district’s enhancement of its social development, improving the overall function of the port industrial district, guaranteeing the smooth progress of the development and opening up of Changxing, fundamentally changing the medical structure of the Southern Liaoning region, where the broad masses need not leave the island to enjoy the professional service of large provincial and city hospitals, truly solving the problem of the masses’ difficulties in getting medical attention.
